Despite being incredibly happy that the series was to be continued and another serial being written for Lucy, I was very surprised through the short story certainly gave away the author’s intentions. I have loved Lucy’s and Maxwell’s story from the beginning and was very eager to dive into this new serial. This novella is all about what happens after ‘Unmasked’.
As always, I loved the writing. It was professional, strong and captivating. The author’s voice was always strong and present – which I greatly admired – and transported me straight away into her world.
‘Release’ was also sort of a prelude to the following novellas to be published in the series but I greatly enjoyed it because it gave me a background story and setting to fall back onto before continuing to the other serials. It was also incredibly short and doesn’t take long to read at all. I’d highly recommend for readers to purchase this serial and the other five in the series.
‘Release’ is told is first person narrative, one of my favourites when reading novellas that have strong emotions in them. It is also a favourite whenever I read any romance stories. First person really captured the torment and pain that Lucy and Maxwell experience from their betrayal. I could feel their grief over the loss of each other but also the deep hurt that they both unwillingly inflicted on each other.
The novella also included multiple character perspectives which have me, as a reader, a deeper insight into the problems and events that were occurring. The multiple perspectives also allowed for the return of other major characters in the previous novels of ‘The Billionaire’s Beck and Call’ series such as Rose and Isabeu.
Excellent grammar and prose filled the novella. I couldn’t spot any spelling mistakes or typing errors in my advanced reviewer’s copy of the short.
Congratulations to Delilah Fawkes on publishing her FIRST INSTALMENT in the ‘Run to Him’ serial!
