Review: Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles, #1) by Marissa Meyer

Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles, #1)Cinder by Marissa Meyer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

‘Cinder’ was PRETTY good but not like WOW! to me for some reason. Okay. I do have a few reasons. 1) The story was really a very big prolonged fairytale where everything gets converted to a futuristic setting, some things change, there is a bit – okay – a lot more danger involving murders, deaths and killings but essentially the mood conveyed to me was exactly the same as a Cinderella book. Sweet and hope where there is no hope. 2) I felt like there was lots of question and answer. The plot would introduce something that we wouldn’t know as a reader and then make a mystery of it but later answers that question later on. It wasn’t very obvious, but it was there. 3) I liked – REALLY REALLY REALLY – liked the romance going on between Kai and Cinder but it seemed to go nowhere after SO much. Bit disappointed but there are more novels in the series.
Congratulations to Marissa Meyer on publishing a lovely beginning to a series!
