‘The Accidental Guest’ is a short novella that sounded like a lovely and absolutely CHARMING Christmas story just from reading the blurb. It captures the warmth and spirit of Christmas and the strong family bond we often share with our families during this time of year. It also had that special miracle that we often associate with Christmas that made the novel just that little bit more enticing and compelling…and it was!
It started of PRETTY confusing. There are three women in the house: The young woman, her younger neice and her older sister. Now, I imagine the niece, Jess, to be about 17, the woman, Hannah, around 30 or younger and the older sister around 45 years. Just wanting to set the age because when I read it, I was horrified because I imagined the main character, Hannah, as a woman in her late FOURTIES! This was a result of the author keeping the age of her characters from us until later on in the novel – I had the strong suspicion that she did it on PURPOSE, just to scare the beejeebies out of people like me. Now, I don’t have (and never had) ANYTHING against women of that age, it just made the whole story unappealing to me; romance novels usually include women who are quite young of age.
It was simple, sweet and lovely. It’s a GREAT short story or novella to read before Christmas – or even better, DURING Christmas Day – especially if you are cosy in front of a fire with the snow falling, unlike me, suffering from heat and dehydration where I live!
I also really liked the prose in ‘The Accidental Guest’ and the way it wove the story.
‘The Accidental Guest’ is the first part in a series;I believe there are more parts coming. I can’t wait because the novella ended on a CLIFF-HANGER and I’m DIEING to know what happens next. Why, Tilly Tennant? Why?!
I was desperately hoping for Hannah and her accidental guest, whom the women named ‘Tom’ to share a kiss or at least go out of their way to get together or SOMETHING! ANYTHING!
A heartfelt 5 star! Congratulations Tilly Tennant! Sign me up for the next one!

Rating Plan
1 star : Strongly did not like the book, writing and plot was bad. Idea of the book was against my liking.
2 star : Didn’t like it, didn’t find it interesting or gripping. Seemed to drag on to me.
3 star : An average book. Wasn’t bad or good. Everything else was well done. Original idea.
4 star : Like a 3 star but has potential to it as a series or the book grew on me as it progressed and certain scenes captured me. I Enjoyed it and read it in one sitting.
5 star : I LOVED IT! I stayed up late until 3 am. Author is a genius, characters, plot, idea, development, EVERYTHING was EXCELLENT. Nothing else can possibly be said except that its 5 STAR!
