WILD BOYS AFTER DARK, #2: HEATH

Everything’s naughtier after dark…  No last names. No strings. No ties.  Except of the silk variety.  Dr. Heath Wild and Allyson Jenner only wanted a simple tryst. But Heath couldn’t live with just one night, just one taste, of Ally–and Ally couldn’t escape the memory of his hands on her skin, the way he looked at her like she was his obsession, or his seduction, which had pushed her to the edge and had made her want to do things she never had before.  One night leads to one tantalizing phone call. Can one phone call lead to forever?

Review

A Note to Readers about ‘Heath’: Melissa’s fans have been asking for a darker, sexier version of The Bradens, and she’s proud to bring you the Wild Boys and the Bad Boys in the new After Dark series. The After Dark series is written in the same raw, emotional voice as The Bradens and her other romance series. However, please be warned that the language in the After Dark books is naughtier than in her other novels, and the heat level has amped up a bit. She hopes you enjoy them as much as she enjoy writing them.
As those of you who’ve read ‘Logan’, the first novel in the ‘Wild Boys After Dark’ series, should know by now – or for those of you who haven’t – Heath is the eldest of the Wild brothers and his book is the second in this Wild Boys After Dark series. In case some of you are wondering if this is a spoiler, it is, but it doesn’t spoil much and doesn’t play a huge factor in the story.
First of all, I was really looking forward to reading ‘Heath’ as the first in the novel, ‘Logan’, really appealed to me. ‘Heath’ didn’t disappoint: it started off with a bang – take that however you’d like: either sexually, metaphorically or literally – and that made it very exciting and interesting to read because the author wasn’t droning on and on about leading up to the action or introducing the characters.
Ok. So. I am TOTALLY falling in love with the Wild brothers. First Logan and now Heath. *swoooon*. They are so loveable and real and gentlemen-like! They are kind and respectful and considerate! Need I say more or should I go on? They are strong and determined and protective… Come on! Who WOULDN’T start falling in love with the Wild brothers after the first novel?
Ally and Heath were just as dynamic as Stella and Logan, we watched them evolve from two singles into a living couple. They had their struggles, but that didn’t stop them. I could also surprisingly relate to Ally and Heath – even though I DO NOT have the same experiences they do – and really get to know them which is always important for me as a reader. NOBODY likes a book when you hate the characters!
The grammar was awesome, as was the spelling, but I did find ONE MEASLY TYPO which is bound to get corrected by the time this novel is released and published. I loved the author’s simple language which wasn’t all fancy shmanzy and hard to decipher. It really let me get into the depth of the story and pick up later on when I left it. Like ‘Logan’, ‘Heath is written in third person and the perspectives alternate between Heath and Ally. This novel was also pretty short for me and a fast read too.
The plot progression was good, but I found that it was sort of simplistic. It followed the same rhythm that’ Logan’ did and slightly brought down my opinion of the novel; hence the four star.
I was also bit confused as to where the climax/complication of the novel was because it seemed too small and insignificant to me. It didn’t seem strong, intense enough, problematic, troublesome or dramatic enough to be one! I wanted one where I screamed and howled, “NOOOOO!”.
But “Aaaaaaaaah!” *squeels*. The Ending. THE ending. The ENDING! Please, if anything, pick this book up just to read the ending! This was another happily-ever-after and BOY AM I GLAD because after the whole lovely shebang going on throughout the WHOLE novel I would have just POPPED and threw a small temper tantrum if nothing HAPPY happened. Trust me, you’ll LOVE it. *winks slyly*
Congratulations Melissa Foster on a fantabulous sequel to a thrilling and daring new series!

Rating Plan
1 star : Strongly did not like the book, writing and plot was bad. Idea of the book was against my liking.
2 star : Didn’t like it, didn’t find it interesting or gripping. Seemed to drag on to me.
3 star : An average book. Wasn’t bad or good. Everything else was well done. Original idea.
4 star : Like a 3 star but has potential to it as a series or the book grew on me as it progressed and certain scenes captured me. I Enjoyed it and read it in one sitting.
5 star : I LOVED IT! I stayed up late until 3 am. Author is a genius, characters, plot, idea, development, EVERYTHING was EXCELLENT. Nothing else can possibly be said except that its 5 STAR! Rating Plan
