ARC kindly provided by Alexia Praks in exchange for an honest review.
This book is Alexia Praks’ first attempt at writing a fantasy novel and I must say she made a pretty good attempt. A Demon’s wrath centres around a strong-willed and kind-hearted Cecelia – a human – who goes after the Pearl of life in the possession of powerful and enigmatic Drake – a demon. The Nine Kingdoms consist of three species; humans, angels and demons. This was a good play on Biblic allusion to the three species of creatures created by God’s hand. This sort of creation really appealed to me. The writing itself was… not the best. At times I could literally see her mistakes where she would use a wrong word tense or she would include a word that was not really needed. Alexia Parks’ writing did get better as you got further in to the book yet you could still see that amateur style to it. There were no grammatical mistakes which was good as I often find it more irritating to read with typos of all the mistakes. There was one plot hole near the end where I went: what happened there? Did she miss a chapter? But when I reached the end I experienced a need to know more after the book. So pick it up, you’ll fall in bookish-love with the novel and hopefully experience the same need to see more of the series! Congratulations to Alexia Parks’ on yet another published novel!
1 star : Strongly did not like the book, writing and plot was bad. Idea of the book was against my liking.
2 star : Didn’t like it, didn’t find it interesting or gripping. Seemed to drag on to me.
3 star : An average book. Wasn’t bad or good. Everything else was well done. Original idea.
4 star : Like a 3 star but has potential to it as a series or the book grew on me as it progressed and certain scenes captured me. I Enjoyed it and read it in one sitting.
5 star : I LOVED IT! I stayed up late until 3 am. Author is a genius, characters, plot, idea, development, EVERYTHING was EXCELLENT. Nothing else can possibly be said except that its 5 STAR!
